My Impressions:
Sometimes books are described as fast-paced, page-turners, the type of book you just can’t put down. Not all deliver. But False Witness by Randy Singer does deliver and in a big way! From the first page I was grabbed. The action propelled me into the story and I cared what was happening to the characters.
Clark Shealy’s wife is kidnapped by the Chinese mob and he is charged to deliver an Indian professor with the key to an encryption code that will unlock every secret and closed system in the world. He delivers or else his wife dies — or worse. Four years later, Clark, now David Hoffman, walks into a legal aid center manned by 3rd year law student Jamie Brock. The government has exposed him and his wife and they are now on the run again. Jamie takes the case along with fellow law students and her law professor. But the nightmare the Shealy’s faced 4 years before, now becomes Jamie’s.
I really couldn’t put this book down. I squirmed, I held my breath, I hoped that all would turn out. And the setting in North Georgia and Atlanta suited this Georgia resident just fine — especially since the main character, Jamie, was intolerant of the arrogant fans of the Bulldog Nation! My only complaint is that one of the characters ate blueberry pancakes at the Waffle House. I have never seen pancakes on the menu at the many Waffle Houses I have frequented, although my college senior assured me they will make anything for you! Now you know, that is a very small complaint and hardly worth mentioning, but it was the only thing I could find about Singer’s novel to dislike!
If you like suspense that will keep you on the edge, turning pages into the wee hours, pick up a copy of Randy Singer’s False Witness. As an added plus, Singer is donating the royalties from this book to the Dalit Freedom Network which works to provide the Dalit children of India with educational opportunities to free them from the bondage of human trafficking.
